Online Banking Fraud Alert
A scam associated with cell phone texting has become a prominent method of identity thieves. The method involves the transmission of text messages to random recipients with the intent of gathering personal account information through false alerts. The latest attempt is a text message that says “National Bank Alert”. The text requests the recipient to contact a telephone number where alarming information is given to the caller about their account. The caller is then asked for account number or debit card number.
Remember, unsolicited text messages requesting personal information are usually fraudulent. The Bank of Marion will not contact you requesting any personal information about your account.
