Be a Part of Bank Day! Learn all about Community Banking. And see if you can win up to $6,000 in higher education scholarships!
The Bank of Marion and all our Hometown Community Branches in Virginia are partnering with the Virginia Bankers Association Education Foundation and the VBA Leadership Division on a scholarship program called Bank Day! Selected high school seniors, with the cooperation of their schools, will have the opportunity to shadow Tammy Shuler, Marketing Assistant, at our Main Office in Marion, VA on Bank Day, March 19! These seniors will learn about banking, financial services and the vital role The Bank of Marion and our 16 Hometown Community Branches play in the community.
From their experience, the students will be tasked with writing an essay on "How Banking Benefits My Community." The essays will be judged by bankers across Virginia and a winner will be chosen from each of the VBA’s regions. From these regional winners, a statewide winner will be chosen. The regional winners will be awarded a $2,000.00 scholarship for the higher education institution of their choice, and the statewide winner will be awarded an additional $4,000.00 scholarship.
In order for students to participate in the program, they must be sponsored by a teacher, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and be a high school senior.
Interested students, teachers and guidance counselors should contact Tammy at 276.783.3116 ext. 3325. She will answer any questions you have regarding the program and send you a packet containing a fact sheet, student application link, and essay guidelines.
